Goldfish Swim School in Glen Ellyn has been an incredible experience for our family. From the moment we walk in, the staff greets us with genuine warmth and professionalism. The instructors are patient, energetic, and truly invested in each child’s progress. They make learning fun while still focusing on safety and skill development, which gives us so much peace of mind. The facility is always clean, well‑organized, and thoughtfully designed for kids of all ages. We’ve seen real improvement in confidence and technique, and the consistency of the curriculum makes every lesson feel

Definitely 5 stars for this location!! I moved to the western suburbs 2 years ago, when my daughter was 1 year old. Before coming here, we tried two other swim schools — Goldfish in Naperville and Big Blue in Naperville. Neither of them was good. The main reason is that the teachers there felt like zombies… no smiles, no energy, not even real activities. They just left parents to do whatever they could with their babies. This is the third swim school we tried, and it’s amazing! The teachers are super friendly and very engaged with the babies. There are lots of fun activities like water slides, boating, and more. Big thanks to Mr. David, who helped my daughter smoothly transition from parent–child lessons to independent lessons with teachers. And not just Mr. David — shout out to Miss Lincy, Miss Gabriella, and Miss Gracen as well! They are all so encouraging and friendly with my daughter. She is always excited for her swimming lessons here and keeps saying, “I want to go swim again!”

We had an okay experience with Goldfish Swim School, but the makeup policy left a pretty bad taste in my mouth and is something I wish had been explained more clearly upfront. If you miss a class, the only way to use a makeup token is to add an additional class during the same week, meaning your child attends twice that week. You can’t simply use a makeup class in place of your regular scheduled class at a later date. The policy is advertised as flexible and mentions “12 makeup classes per year,” but in reality, using all 12 would require doubling up classes for roughly three months. For families like ours with 2-year-old twins, that became very difficult. Getting young kids to swim lessons is already a major effort, so squeezing in a second class during the same week was often unrealistic. It was especially frustrating because the makeup classes were typically added into sessions that were already well attended and already had an instructor assigned. I understand why the policy may be structured this way from a business standpoint, but I’d encourage Goldfish to reconsider it for younger families with children between 0–3 years old, where classes are largely parent-led and the exercises are fairly simple. Allowing makeup classes to be applied toward future regularly scheduled sessions — as long as staffing is already in place — would provide parents with much-needed flexibility when inevitable conflicts come up.

I was really hoping for a better experience! We signed our 18 month old up and they recommended that he go into the Mini 1 class (for 4-15 months). He cried the first class but by the second one, he was really improving and enjoying it! After 7 classes, there was still no mention of moving him up to an age appropriate class or any discussion at all with the instructor about our child specifically. Every class is the same, and there isn’t any building on to new skills each week. I found the portal to be confusing as it shows cancelled classes in the attendance section from before our child was born and assorted payments I didn’t make. When I called the office for help understanding, nothing was explained any further. Wish this could have worked but we’re going to look somewhere else for classes.
