I have heard great things about this place and as a social worker upstate I’ve often even referred it and great experiences have been had. I bring my intelligent and beautiful almost 2 year old daughter on 6/28 at the wolf road location to her first mini 2 trial . The young man front desk attendant was helpful and had a pleasant demeanor while assisting with check in . My mother even came along and she travels some way to see us so I wanted today to be special ….My daughter loves water( especially the beach but honestly any body of water !) . My daughter may have a hard time opening up to new experiences as a baby not involved in much although once comfortable enough in experiencing activities she enjoys them My daughter is so smart and does in fact speak but we are currently working on her speech and if she is unsure about her environment she may vocalize a sound to soothe herself even if in my arms or near me . The instructor in the water today was at first welcoming but then began to make faces to her coworker as my daughter vocalized or every time we would float by her or she would float by . Handing us things for activities wasn’t pleasant and for one activity forgot to give my daughter a ball to go inside the eye of the floating duck pad but gave another child several more This highly infuriated me but I did not want the class to go left and I wanted to finish. We participated and my baby became comfortable as time went on and ceased vocalizing . I didn’t feel much interaction or acceptance from instructor and I thought it was rude and I was truly disgusted at the faces she made at my daughter while she was anxious experiencing a new environment . If we were all more accepting and shown grace and respect , the world would be better and I would hope goldfish would want to curate an accepting environment for all children of different races as well as their speech or physical abilities and their comfortability level especially if it is their trial session . I expressed my concern to the manager . We had already left the building but I could not walk to the car without expressing my disdain for what occurred and standing up for my child. Ava , the manager , who was professional and made me feel seen listened diligently as I expressed concern. . She signed my daughter and I up for another trial with a different instructor and I am hopeful to give this another try as a single mother trying to expand her child’s abilities and life experiences .
