I’m not usually someone who writes reviews, so please bear with me — but I felt genuinely compelled to share this in hopes it helps other parents. I was completely torn on what to do before taking trial classes, and I wish I had read something like this. I started at Aqua Tots in Old Bridge with my 17-month-old son, and unfortunately it was a disaster for us. The facility and staff were perfectly nice, but their approach to getting kids comfortable in the water felt very forceful. It was incredibly hard on both my son and me. I honestly thought swim lessons were supposed to involve hysterical crying and that I was doing the right thing by repeatedly and immediately putting him underwater. (To be clear, the staff was following their method correctly — he wasn’t swallowing water or coughing — he was just scared.) I even considered signing him up because I felt like he’d eventually adjust, and after such a rough start I didn’t want to waste time switching schools. Then we tried Goldfish in Middletown, and the difference was unbelievable. The structure is completely different — far more child-centered and parent-friendly. Because of our experience at Aqua Tots, my son came in terrified of the water. At Goldfish, there was absolutely no pushing him underwater before he was ready, and hearing that from the staff alone was a huge relief. We basically spent the entire first class rebuilding his comfort and trust. By the second class, he was willing to go under again — and this time, he came up clapping and smiling instead of crying. All of that is a long way of saying: if you’re undecided about where to take your child, Goldfish has been incredibly patient and attuned to each child’s needs. Water safety is so important, and for something that can feel scary for both kids and parents, their approach made all the difference. They go at the child’s pace instead of forcing them into something they’re not ready for. We’re only three classes in, and he’s a completely different kid in the water. I’m so grateful I decided to try both schools.

Goldfish Swim School has been amazing for my daughter. Her instructors are so patient, gentle, and truly great at what they do. As a first-time mom, feeling safe and supported means everything, and they make every lesson feel comfortable and trusting. The girls at the front desk are just as wonderful—always friendly, prompt, and understanding. Whether I’m running a little late or need to switch to another class, they handle everything with kindness and zero stress. Overall, Goldfish Swim School has been such a positive experience for us, and I’m so grateful for how well they take care of my daughter. I definitely recommend them!

We couldn’t be happier with this swim school! Before coming here, we were enrolled at a different program, and my son had zero interest in swimming—he resisted going and didn’t want to participate in class. Since switching to this school, everything has changed. Now he’s genuinely excited for every session and looks forward to swim days with enthusiasm. Every instructor he’s worked with has been outstanding—patient, knowledgeable, and truly tuned in to each child’s needs. They create a supportive environment that builds confidence and skills without pressure. My son is now the first in line for every new activity, fully engaged and eager to learn. It’s been amazing to watch his transformation. The facility itself is spotless and thoughtfully equipped. From the pool setup to the changing areas, everything feels safe, well-maintained, and welcoming. The staff is organized and communicative, and scheduling has been smooth and flexible. We’re so grateful to have found this place—it’s made a real difference not just in swimming, but in my child’s overall confidence and joy. Highly recommend to any parent looking for a nurturing, high-quality swim program.

My son loves his instructors. I love flexibility of app to report/ schedule missed classes and reschedule make ups. Facility very clean. My almost 4 year old loves to be independent here (changing, buying snack, checking out fish). We love free open swim options during week and try to utilize.

My little water bug loves to swim (thanks to goldfish swim school and staff for his lessons a couple years ago)! So for his 5th birthday party we couldn’t think of a better place to celebrate. We had never attended a birthday party there before so we weren’t sure what to expect. I can tell you everything went so smoothly and everyone had an awesome time. Starting with the welcome and organization from our party coordinator, Amy, and the diligence of our life guards, Caroline & Maddie. They truly went above and beyond promoting a fun and safe environment for all to enjoy! Thank you!!!
