Overall, I had a good experience at Goldfish Swim School. My daughter went from not knowing how to swim to becoming a confident swimmer, so the goal was definitely achieved. I enrolled her at 4 years old, during their grand opening (March 2023). After almost 2 years, we decided to unenroll as my child could swim and I was not looking for her to become a competitive swimmer. The facilities are generally clean, with changing rooms (occasional lines for the changing rooms early on), 3 hair dryers and seating for parents to view their children in the pool. I especially loved two of her instructors—Ms. Marlin and Ms. Andrea. Ms. Andrea, in particular, has incredible energy and a fun teaching style that kept our child engaged. Even after moving to a different level, Ms. Andrea still remembered and greeted her, which was so heartwarming. My child's favorite instructor for sure! The other instructors were hit-or-miss—not bad, but not as engaging. I feel consistent instructors make a big difference since they can better track a child's progress. Unfortunately, there were times when instructors changed without notice, which disrupted the flow. When we scheduled makeup classes with different teachers, the feedback about our child’s skills often varied, which made it a bit confusing. In my opinion, it also hindered my child's progress in my eyes because each teacher was focusing on different skills making it harder to move to the next level. On the plus side, scheduling makeups is super easy using their portal. Compared to other extracurriculars, Goldfish offers the most flexible and lenient makeup policy, which is a huge perk. As for pricing, it’s expensive for 30-minute lessons, but the convenience of being close by my home and my goal of teaching our child to swim made it worth it. Keep in mind that progress varies for every child. Some kids move through levels quickly, while others take longer. For my child, certain skills were mastered quickly, while others required more time. Sometimes she jumped another level in less than 2 months and some took her 6+ months to pass. In summary, Goldfish Swim School is a great option for teaching kids how to swim if that's your end goal.
