Meet Bill Moorman: Goldfish Swim School’s Chief Development Officer

At Goldfish Swim School, we’re all about creating a safe, fun, and memorable experience for kids in the water, and it takes a dedicated and passionate team to make that happen. That’s why we’re thrilled to introduce one of the guiding forces behind our franchise expansion: Bill Moorman, our Chief Development Officer.
From Arby’s to Aquatics: A Journey Built on Experience Bill joined the Goldfish Swim School team in May of 2019, bringing with him over 30 years of experience in retail real estate, design, and construction. His career began on the franchisee side with Arby’s, and over time, he rose to become the Vice President of Construction for both Arby’s Restaurant Group and Steak & Shake. This extensive background makes him a perfect fit for guiding our franchisees through every step of launching their swim school.
Today, Bill’s primary focus is helping Goldfish franchisees navigate the exciting, sometimes complex, process of opening new schools in their communities. From site selection to facility design to supply chain logistics, Bill and his team are right there to ensure each location is set up for success.
Hooked on Goldfish
When asked what drew him to Goldfish Swim School, Bill’s answer reflects both curiosity and heart. “A recruiter called me about a truly unique opportunity,” he recalls. “He told me about this wonderful, family-owned franchisor that’s on a mission to help kids stay safe in and around the water. I spoke with him, learned about the Goldfish family, and I was soon hooked.”
Since joining the team, that initial attraction has grown into deep admiration. “Pretty much everything about this brand is impressive,” Bill says. “The mission, the leadership, the culture, the franchisees — this is not your average franchisor. I’ve worked for several, and what we have here is really special.”
Empowering Franchisees, One School at a Time
Bill’s day-to-day focus is all about growth — but not just in square footage. “My team facilitates new school growth,” he explains. “We help franchisees find great real estate and support them through design, permitting, and construction. Every new school means more kids learn water safety, more entrepreneurs live out their dreams, and more communities gain an important resource.”
The Heart Behind the Hard Hat
While Bill is undoubtedly a seasoned pro in real estate and development, he’s also known for his warm personality and a few interests that make him a favorite around the office. “People here know I really like wine — a lot!” he laughs. “I’ve got a pretty big collection at home, and I love traveling to wine regions with my wife and friends.” He’s also a die-hard Indiana University sports fan, a passion that runs deep in his family — seven degrees deep, to be exact! “IU has my heart and most of my money,” he jokes. “Go Hoosiers!”

When you ask Bill what makes Goldfish so special, he doesn’t hesitate: “It’s the people. My coworkers are some of the smartest, hardest-working, and most fun people I’ve ever worked with. And it all ties back to the model that Chris, Jenny and Andrew McCuiston built. This is a brand that lives in its values — and that’s not something you find just anywhere.”
